Established in 2009 at Palestinian Polytechnic University (PPU) in Hebron, the Marble and Stone Center (TEVT) holds the distinction of being the first center in the Middle East dedicated to the stone and marble industry. This Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) center operates through a unique partnership involving the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy (representing the public sector), Palestinian Polytechnic University-PPU (the academic sector), and the Union of Stone and Marble-USM (representing the private sector). Spearheaded by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and funded by the Italian government, this initiative seeks to advance the Palestinian stone and marble industry.

The primary objective of the center is to enhance the local stone and marble industry by employing locally trained personnel who have obtained diplomas from the Faculty of Applied Professions at Palestinian Polytechnic University in Hebron. Additionally, the center will offer specialized training courses for industry workers, equipping them with knowledge of the latest international technologies and machinery operations. Moreover, the center will conduct laboratory tests on stone and marble, catering to the needs of Palestinian merchants involved in product exportation. It is anticipated that these tests will be conducted directly by Palestinian merchants, thereby streamlining the export process.
